Background

The EICC is a nonprofit organization committed to helping our 100+ international members understand and improve the social and environmental challenges and opportunities in the global electronics supply chain. Our vision is to help our members build an electronics industry supply chain that consistently operates with social, environmental and economic responsibility. We are currently hiring a VAP Audit Quality Manager. This position is available in March 2017 and interviews will take place until the position is filled. 

Position Summary

The VAP Audit Quality Manager’s primary responsibility is observing VAP audits for quality, professionalism, timeliness and ethics. This role requires extensive travel, globally, in order to personally observe the interactions of auditors and auditees during the VAP audits. In addition to the shadow audit work, the Audit Quality Manager will need to support the EICC training programs on the EICC Code and Validated Audit Process.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Observe EICC Approved audit firms during VAP audits as a shadow auditor. Collect data on the integrity of the auditor, the audit firm, the program and the audit report.
    • Observe EICC VAP audits around the world.
    • Debrief the auditors at the end of each shadow audit.
    • Identify gaps in auditors’ familiarity of EICC Code and VAP audit processes.
    • Create a Shadow Audit Report for each audit observed with areas the audit team did well at and areas for improvement.
    • Aggregate all data into reports for each audit firm on a quarterly basis.
    • Determine trends across shadow audits to develop auditor trainings on a quarterly basis.
  • Deliver training.
    • Deliver, as needed, the two-day EICC Code training.
    • Deliver, as needed, the one-day EICC VAP Process training.
    • Review and score test papers for various auditors’ qualification.
    • Deliver quarterly one-hour webinar trainings for auditors, with content to be based on the areas for improvement identified in the shadow audits.
  • Participate in other projects as assigned.
  • Constructively critique and provide input into the EICC VAP Program to ensure that the highest ethical standards are maintained in the process.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Extensive audit expertise (EICC audit expertise and/or EICC Approved Lead Auditor preferred)
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the time or more
  • Ability to speak and write English and Chinese fluently
  • Working knowledge of labor, environment, health and safety, management systems and ethics.
  • Ability to manage work independently, with a high level of technical independence and judgment.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills with sensitivity to cultural differences. Strong presentation skills required.
  • Strong communication skills, with a focus on training delivery
  • Strong writing skills, with a focus on language appropriate for corrective action plans
  • Knowledge of audit standards, critical legislation, and other audit related subjects like effective worker interview skills, document reviews and site observations.
  • Understanding of supply chain issues related to the electronics, toy and/or automotive industries.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on various projects.

 Desired Education and Experience

  • 10+ years of audit experience
  • Bachelor degree in any discipline (Labor / HR / Environmental / Health & Safety preferred)
  • Ability to speak other languages, in addition to fluent English and Chinese
  • 2+ years training experience

Additional Information

EICC's headquarters is in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. Given the extensive travel to Southeast China, this position will be located in the EICC mainland China Beijing office. However the applicant can work effectively from a home office. Reliable and high-speed Internet access is required. This position is almost exclusively traveling, observing audits or delivering trainings. The candidate must be comfortable being away from home for long periods of time. Occasional evening calls may be required to accommodate meetings in a U.S. time zone. The EICC is looking for a motivated self-starter who is looking to see the world while bringing value to EICC members, workers in the supply chain, the environment and business.
